MESSAGE FROM OUR CLUB PRESIDENT
Thank you to all the players, families and volunteers for making the 2019 Footy Season such an enjoyable and successful year. As a group we yet again continued to demonstrate our club's important role within the Melville community.
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the President of Melville JFC for the upcoming 2020 Season, voted in by the committee at our recent meeting.
This is my first year on the committee after 6 years in junior and youth team coaching roles, most recently for one of our Year 6 teams in 2019. I am really looking forward to the role and contributing towards a positive future for the club in 2020 and beyond.
On behalf of the committee and the club as a whole I would like to express my gratitude to Cameron Vinicombe, the outgoing President for his generous giving of time and energy to the club and the district during his two years in the role.
I sincerely thank all the volunteers who contributed so passionately to our club during the 2019 season, without these people clubs can't exist and they certainly could never flourish. Particular thanks must go to the coaches and managers for each team, the canteen personnel, the ground and property managers, as well as the 2019 committee members.
Our club could not operate successfully without the generous support of our club sponsors. Thank you to each of the 2019 sponsors for their contribution last season and I hope we can continue our relationship into future seasons. I sincerely urge all of our club members and friends to support our sponsors wherever possible to show them their support is appreciated and not taken for granted.
Our sponsors are all local businesses and I know they would love to hear you're from Melville JFC - please refer to our club website for our sponsor details and the services they provide.
For the effective ongoing running of the club we need a dedicated and forward-thinking committee. The committee positions voted on by the general committee for the 2020 Season has an important mix of experience and fresh ideas, the positions currently filled are:
President: Nathan Rugless
Vice President: Rebecca Haas
Secretary Cheryl Reutens
Registrar: Joanna Rusling
Treasurer: Hayden Conti
Social Co-ordinator: Kellie Zappara
Coach Co-ordinator: Dave McMahon
Merchandise: Jodie Ricci
MPIO: Ash Thomas
General Committee: Brad Gillies, David Haas Natasha,Paton (including Canteen Manager)
I think it is very important to recognise that the committee is a group of passionate volunteers who have put their hand up to introduce new ideas for the club and to bring all our members' concerns to the discussion table. We urgently require more volunteers to step-up and join our committee for several key roles in 2020. These positions have been fantastically fulfilled during 2019 and previous years, but these roles cannot simply be left for someone else to do year-in / year-out.
Please contact myself or our Vice President Rebecca Haas () as soon as possible to express your interest in the following roles:
Property / Equipment
Building / Grounds
The success of any sporting club can be measured in a variety of ways, premierships are commonly used as a gauge but for me personally the success of Melville JFC in the upcoming season will be continuing to build a positive club culture and experience for players and their families.
This success will be measured by our attraction of both existing and new players to our club at all age groups, increasing our volunteer base, and developing the skills and comradery of our players and coaches. I truly believe kids playing sport in a positive environment is vitally important to their development into confident people into the future.
I look forward to seeing you all down at Marmion Reserve in 2020 helping to create that environment for our kids.
